Dear students, Summer is all about having fun, going on adventures and making memories! But with all that enjoyment, it’s important to stay safe. Here are some essential summer safety tips to keep you cool and healthy all season long: Beat the heat
Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you don’t feel thirsty. Avoid sugary drinks and excessive caffeine, which can dehydrate you.
Dress for the weather. Wear loose, lightweight, light-coloured clothing that reflects the sun. Don’t forget a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses for extra protection.
Seek shade, especially during the hottest part of the day (usually from 10 a.m. till 4 p.m.). Take breaks in air-conditioned spaces whenever possible.
Know the signs of heatstroke and heat exhaustion. If you experience dizziness, headache, or excessive sweating, get out of the heat and cool down immediately!
Sun safety
Sunscreen is your BFF! Make sure you apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher before going outdoors, and reapply every two hours, or more often if swimming or sweating.
Be extra cautious during peak sun hours. Consider scheduling outdoor activities for early morning or later afternoon.
Protect your eyes! Wear sunglasses that block UVA and UVB rays.
